 Anambra Government Reaffirms Mega City Drive, Demolishes Scores of Illegal Structures By Ruth Orji  The Anambra State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the ongoing regeneration drive and restoration of sanity across the state through enforcement exercises and demolition of illegal structures statewide. The exercise was led by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Barrister Chijioke Ojukwu, on July 8, in line with the Physical Planning Law of Anambra State. Stating that it is no longer business as usual, the commissioner urged residents to take every notice received from the ministry seriously and comply promptly with planning regulations henceforth. He, however, said several eviction notices had been served but were taken with a pinch of salt, adding that demolitions followed because structures defaced the environment or obstructed pedestrian walkways. 486 SOUTH AFRICAN MINE WORKERS,RESCUED FROM A FIRE OUTBREAK UNDERGROUND,IN HARMONY GOLD.

                          According to sources,the fire started yesterday sunday around 8am and initially some 200 miners were unaccounted for.All operations other than essential services at the mine had been suspended.The mine company spokeswoman Charmane Russell said ''All 486 employees have been brought to the surface safely.This is a credit to employees,unions,company and the efforts of the mine rescue service''.The fire started about 1.43 miles underground during maintenance on an air cooler at the Kusasalethu mine,a deep level operation west of Johannesburg that is Harmony's single largest gold producers.One more photo below.
