 Setting the Records Straight on  Citizen Asar Michael Sesugh's  Death The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,  EFCC,  considered it imperative to clear the air on some recent incidents at its Makurdi Zonal Directorate,  Benue State.   Operatives of the Directorate arrested 26 suspected cyber fraudsters on April 28,  2026.  They were profiled and kept in custody for further investigations after obtaining a Remand Order at a Magistrate Court.  Shortly after their arrest,  specifically on May 4,  2026,  three of the suspects sought permission to use the lavatory at the Directorate's  Holding Facility and were permitted.   They cashed in on the opportunity,  broke the toilet's roof and escaped from detention.  Several efforts were made to re- arrest them to no avail. •Mercy John                                                                According to sources,Mercy John who was an officer attached to Provost Office State Police Command Headquarters,Ikeja Lagos,was accosted by armed robbers at about 6pm,yesterday tuesday,10 February around Egbeda Shasha area of Lagos state and she was ordered to lie down.According to a statement by DSP Ken Nwosu,the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer,said ''Mercy John and one other person were accosted by two armed robbers on motor bike and ordered to lie down.The NCO {Non Commissioned Officer Mercy John}refused to comply and also turned down the order to hand over her handbag.However,her companion out of fear complies.One of the men who accosted them brought out a locally made pistol,then Mercy John immediately on sighting the firearm,smartly and professionally grabbed the neck of the gun wielding hoodlum and hit his head on a nearby wall.The firearm fell down and she immediately grabbed it and the hoodlums sensing imminent danger,fled for their lives.The fleeing robbers are being trailed by the police,the female officer has since been approved for the commendation of the Commissioner of Police,as well as the IGP's commendation.The Commissioner of Police wishes to congratulate the NCO {Mercy John} for this uncommon act of bravery and urges her to keep it up''.
