  NBC bans Eedris Abdulkareem’s protest song ‘Tell Your Papa’ from radio, TV The National Broadcasting Commission has barred Nigerian radio and television stations from airing the trending song “Tell Your Papa” by veteran rapper, Eedris Abdulkareem, citing its “objectionable nature.” In a memo dated April 9, 2025 and issued by the Coordinating Director of Broadcast Monitoring, Susan Obi, the commission declared the track Not To Be Broadcast (NTBB) under Section 3.1.8 of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code. This section prohibits content deemed inappropriate, offensive, or in breach of public decency from being aired on Nigerian broadcast platforms. According to the NBC, while the song has gained momentum across social media platforms, its lyrical content fails to meet the standards of responsible broadcasting. PERMANENT VOTERS CARD COLLECTION,EXTENDED TO FEBRUARY 8-INEC.

                 The extension of the collection of the Permanent Voters Card {PVC}to February 8,2015 by the Independent National Electoral Commission,was confirmed yesterday sunday via a statement by Kayode Idowu,the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman of INEC,Prof Attahiru Jega.Kayode Idowu said ''The February 8 deadline for the collection of the PVC's supersedes the earlier deadline of January 31,2015,announced by the commission.It is intended to give registered voters yet to collect their PVC,the opportunity to do so in readiness for the February 2015 general elections.INEC hereby calls on duly registered persons not to delay in going to collect their cards before the expiration of the new deadline.The commission reaffirms its determination to make the 2015 elections free,fair,credible and peaceful and urges all stakeholders,including voters,to spare no effort in working forward the same objective''.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
