 NUT Protest : Wike Warns Against Politicising Insecurity The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned against politicising insecurity amid protests by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, FCT wing, over the killing and abduction of school staff and children in Oyo State. Teachers stormed the FCTA Secretariat in Abuja to condemn the killing of Michael Oyedokun and to demand the release of abducted pupils and teachers from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area. The FCT minister addressed the protesters on Tuesday, saying the federal government is on its toes working to secure the rescue of the schoolchildren and their teachers. Wike urged protesters to avoid turning the tragedy into a political issue and to give security efforts time to produce results. 3 PEOPLE BURNT TO DEATH,AS A PETROL TANKER EXPLODED AT IKORODU TODAY.

PHOTO: DAMILARE OKUNOLA                    According to sources,today wednesday at least three people were confirmed dead during a fire outbreak that occured when a petroleum tank belonging to Forte oil exploded around 6:47am in Ikorodu area of Lagos state.The tanker driver had a brake failure while trying to climb the steep  hill on Beach Road opposite the abbatoir on the same road.The driver of the tanker,a motorcycle rider and a yet to be identified commuter were burnt beyond recognition as the fire gutted the abbatoir and wreaked havoc in the area.Cows and goats had also been burnt as fire also spread to a building inside the slaughter slab which serves the people of Ebute and its environs.
