 Appeal Court nullifies judgement against Rivers LG election The Court of Appeal in Abuja has nullified the judgement that barred the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, from releasing voters register to the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC, for the conduct of local government elections that held in the state on October 5. A special panel of the court, in a unanimous decision by a three-member panel led by Justice Onyekachi Otisi, faulted the Federal High Court for barring security agencies from providing security during the elections. The panel held that the lower court lacked the jurisdiction to entertain suit against the Rivers State LG elections. He stressed that Section 28 of the Electoral Act does not cover elections conducted by states, but only federal elections, governorship and area council elections in the Federal Capital Territory. A survivor of the Kenya university massacre hid in a wardrobe for two days cowering in fear before finally being rescued, as a horrifying picture of a classroom strewn with dead bodies emerged                   In a televised address today saturday in Kenya,their President Uhuru Kenyatta said Alshabaab will not be able to create an islamic caliphate in Kenya.He also declared a three day mourning following the killing of university students at Garisaa University college on thursday.148 people died in the attack,including policemen who were guarding the institution.The Al Shabaab group claimed responsibility for the massacre in which four terrorist were killed.Kenyatta said Kenya would defend her territory and the way of life of her people and urge more help from the country's muslim community in rooting out radical element.''The task of countering terrorism has been made more complex by the fact that the planners and financiers of this brutality are deeply embedded in the communities''.One more photo below.                                                                     Garissa Attack

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
