 Group demands declaration of Aba North Assembly seat vacant, threatens protest A group known as the Coalition of Aba North Ethnic Youth Groups has mandated the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Emmanuel Emereuwa to declare the Aba North seat vacant in seven days. The Aba North seat has been a subject of controversy since November 27, 2023, when the Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos sacked Destiny Nwagwu of LP and declared Aaron Uzodike of the PDP, the duly elected member to represent Aba North. However, the seat has remained unoccupied since November 2023, as Uzodike of PDP has not been inaugurated by the Speaker, despite his several appeals. A fresh controversy erupted Friday, as the Coalition of Aba North Ethnic Youths Groups, asked the Speaker to declare the seat vacant within seven days or expect a city-wide protest in Aba. 3 PEOPLE TODAY DIED IN A BUS ACCIDENT,AT BENIN-WARRI HIGHWAY.

                   According to sources,atleast three people died in a ghastly motor accident that occured at Obayator village today saturday,along Benin Warri highway.Other people were seriously injured.The accident which occured ar about 8:30am,involved a Navy blue Toyota Hiace bus,Lagos XL 617 AGL,crashed into an aluminium coloured Toyota Sienna bus,marked as Delta Bur 598 AA.Both vehicles were travelling towards Benin city from Warri end of the double carriage way.Eyewitnesses claimed that the Hiace bus had burial posters of a woman,and the bus was on top speed when it lost control and rammed into the Sienna bus from behind,causing both vehicles to skid off the road.The burial bus is heading to Ekpoma,administrative headquarters of Esan West Local Government area of Edo state for burial.Youths of Obayator village,blocked the two sides of the double carriage way,thereby causing long queue of vehicles on the roads.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up. Namtira Bwala has threatened to file a lawsuit against the school authorities if her abusers are not punished within 48 hours. In a letter drafted by her lawyers, Deji Adeyanju and Co, Namtira asked the school authorities to immediately investigate and pronounce the stiffest punishments in the student’s rule book on Ms.Maryam Hassan, Miss Faliya, and nine other students who bullied her.
