  The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has dismissed a viral claim circulating on social media about the introduction of new ₦5,000 and ₦10,000 banknotes, labeling it as fake news. The claim, which included fabricated images of the supposed new denominations featuring Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Chief Obafemi Awolowo, falsely stated that the new notes would enter circulation from May 1, 2025. In a statement on its verified Facebook account, the CBN clarified that the content is not from the bank and directed the public to its official website, (www.cbn.gov.ng), for authentic information. The bank warned against spreading misinformation regarding monetary policies and urged Nigerians to rely only on official statements from its verified channels.                                   East Baton Rouge parish,Louisiana Coroner Dr William Beau Clark,confirmed to the Associated press that musician Percy Sledge,died early tuesday morning.The news was also confirmed to ABC News by his agent of 35 years Steve Green,who said that the singer died after a long battle with cancer.He was best known for recording the 1966 classic ''When a man loves a woman'',that made number one hit.He was born in Leighton,Alabama on November 25,1941.His first recording took him from hospital orderly to a long touring career averaging 100 performances a year and an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame in 2005.He released his last album ''The Gospel of Percy Sledge'',in 2013.More photos below.
