 ‘Conference Hall’ – Senators complain over poor quality of reconstructed Senate Chamber Senators on Tuesday expressed anger over the condition of the reconstructed Chamber, which they described as a ‘mere conference room’. Controversy has trailed the refurbished Senate Chambers since plenary resumed in the facility last week. Last Tuesday’s plenary was trailed by confusion as some Senators quarreled over sitting arrangements in the renovated chamber. During plenary on Tuesday, complaints over the standard of the Chambers led to a rowdy session which lasted for about 15 minutes and eventually forced the Senate into executive session. The Chief Whip of the Senate and lawmaker representing Borno South, Ali Ndume, who raised the issues through Order 42 of the Senate Standing Rules, said, “What is supposed to be a Chamber, has been turned into a Conference Hall”, a development which he said is not acceptable. “Mr President, I rise to make disturbing observations on this supposedly renovate

5 CHINESE MEN TO BE DEPORTED FROM NIGERIA,FOR ILLEGAL BUSINESS.

Chinese Textile                   The 5 Chinese men that are to be deported are behind the illegal importation of textiles to Kano few weeks ago.The announcement of their deportation was announced after a joint inspection visit to Kano by the Controller General of Customs,Dikko Inde Abdullahi and Controller General of Immigration,David Parradang.In a joint statement signed by Wale Adeniyi Customs Public Relations Officer and Chukwuemeka Obua Immigration public relations officer of NIS.The two organisations noted that five Chienes nationals were uncovered by Customs anti smuggling operatives.Controller General of Immigration immdediate steps will therefore be taken to effect their deportation.Inv estigation are still in progress to ascertain the Immigration status of the other two Chinese nationals.The controller General further stated that the service will intensify routing mop-up operations to ease out irregular immigrants.He added that those who are law abiding and contribute to the national economic development through foreign Direct investment {FDI} and technology transfer will be encouraged and given every possible assistance
