 A popular content creator has died from surgery complication     Esther Thomas, popularly known as Sunshine, was a Nigerian content creator, skit maker, and brand influencer. She died on Friday, 9 January 2026, after complications from fibroid surgery. She had been complaining of serious stomach pain from late December 2025.     Sunshine was first admitted at Orchid General Hospital in Lagos, where her friends said she was only given pain relief drugs because doctors were on strike. Her condition did not improve, so she was moved to another hospital on 2 January 2026, where tests showed she had a large fibroid and surgery was carried out. She later developed complications and died. After her death, friends blamed Orchid General Hospital online, saying she was neglected and did not receive proper treatment early enough. 6 PEOPLE DIED YESTERDAY IN A WEDDING,AFTER A SUICIDE BOMBER ATTACKED THE VENUE IN BORNO STATE.

            Yesterday Friday,the Borno command confirmed the killing of six persons when a suicide bomber attacked the venue of a wedding in Tashan Alade town of Hawul Local Government Area in Borno state.The state's Commissioner of Police,Mr Aderemi Opadokun Confirmed casualty figure in an interview with NAN in Maiduguri Opadokun said that no fewer than 30 people were also injured during the attack.''I confirm the report on an alleged suicide bombing in Tashan Alade in Hawul LGA.The incident was reported to have occurred at a wedding ''Fatiha''.Presently,six person all males,whose identities are unknown,are confirmed dead,while 30 other were injured.Investigation is in progress on the issue''.He further said that the inauguration of Gov. Kashim Shettima for a second term of office in Maiduguri was peaceful.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”. He said: “Our orders for four attack helicopters from the United States of America will take some time to arrive. We have approached Turkey for assistance.” The President, however, stated that the delays were affecting the public’s perception of the administration’s commitment to addressing the security challenges.
