 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. A BUSINESS MAN HENRY DIMOJI,CRUSHED TO DEATH BY A DIESEL TANKER AT MILE 2,AFTER POLICE MOUNTED AN ILLEGAL CHECK-POINT.

Mr.-Henry-Dimoji                       A sad report just got to my news desk today,on how a 48 year old business man Henry Dimoji,who resides around Anthony village in Lagos state,but hails from Imo state,was crushed to death by a diesel tanker.Henry Dimoji was returning from a wake-keeping with his wife in Festac town area in a Honda car,only to be stopped by some policemen attached to the Rapid Response Squad,Ikeja,mounted an illegal checkpoint at Mile 2 end of Oshodi Apapa Expressway,conducting unapproved stop and search,stop Henry Dimoji and his wife Linda.The policemen refused to allow Henry Dimoji to park properly by the road side,insisting that he must come down to open his booth for search.So he came down and an oncoming tanker,said to be carrying diesel,hit Henry Dimoji and dragged him on the road.The policemen were said to have avoided the tanker.It was gathered that the matter which occured at about 7:30pm last week thursday April 30,was transffered to the State Criminal Investigation Department,while the policemen had been arrested.The truck driver and his conductor had also been arrested by the police.It was further learnt that the SCID was still searching for two policemen,who were also with the patrol team during the incident.May Henry Dimoji's soul rest in peace,AMEN.
