Anambra Government Reaffirms Mega City Drive, Demolishes Scores of Illegal Structures By Ruth Orji The Anambra State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the ongoing regeneration drive and restoration of sanity across the state through enforcement exercises and demolition of illegal structures statewide. The exercise was led by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Barrister Chijioke Ojukwu, on July 8, in line with the Physical Planning Law of Anambra State. Stating that it is no longer business as usual, the commissioner urged residents to take every notice received from the ministry seriously and comply promptly with planning regulations henceforth. He, however, said several eviction notices had been served but were taken with a pinch of salt, adding that demolitions followed because structures defaced the environment or obstructed pedestrian walkways. Interior Ministry spokesman in Saudi Arabia said today that ''It has been established that an individual detonated a bomb he was wearing under his cloths during friday prayers todayat Ali Ibn Abi Taleb Mosque in Kudeih in Qatif province.The attack is an act of terrorism.Security authorities will spare no effort in the pursuit of all those involved in this terrorist crime''.Though the death toll might rise from 19 to a higher number because the Mosque is filled up with 150 people.Pictures posted on social ,media purported to show the devastation with dead bodies,strewn across the floor and shattered glass covering the courtyard of the Mosque.No one has claimed responsibility for the bombing,the first to target the Shia community in Saudi Arabia since November when gunmen killed at least eight people in an attack on a religious anniversary celebration,also in the east.
