 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. BOKO HARAM STRIKES AGAIN WITH SUICIDE BOMBERS IN MAIDUGURI YESTERDAY BUT NIGERIAN ARMY CLAIMED SANITY HAS BEEN RESTORED.

                    According to military sources,suspected Boko Haram militants attacked Nigeria northern city of Maiduguri in orno state yesterday wednesday from a cashew plantation a few kilometers from the Giwa barracks.Residents said they heard hearvy shooting and explosions on the outskirts and began fleeing their homes.The fighting began around 6:45pm before subsiding by around 9:00pm.Maiduguri has not been attacked since two major takeover attempts in late January and early February and several bombings in March.A security source who participated in the operation,said they fought off several hundreds insurgents which included suicide bombers.''Sme civilian youth vigilante who went to battle may have lost their lives''.The military source further said that ''Were they were trying to evacuate some women from a community behind the Giwa barracks when a bomb exploded from a woman suspected to be a suicide bomber''.The Director Defence Information,Major General Chris Olukolade who confirmed the incident,said ''The attack was apparently diversionary with the intention of slowing down the ongoing assault on Sambisa forest.He noted that the attack is believed to have been carried out by those escaping from the terrorists location that have been routed or destroyed ,but normalcy has been restored as the troops conduct mopping up of the area while the offensive on all terrorists forest locations continue''.One more picture below.                            Maj.
