 TEAM LAGOS EMERGES TOP AT 23RD NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL SOUTH WEST ELIMINATION Lagos State athletes proved their dominance in the South West by edging out regional competitors and emerging top in the five team events contested at the elimination series qualifier for the 23rd National Sports Festival later this year in Enugu. The elimination series featured team events in volleyball, basketball, football, beach volleyball, and cricket in male and female categories. While the team clinched only the female football ticket by topping their group, they showed dominance in three other sports by winning both the male and female tickets. Team Lagos took first position in the volleyball male and female categories. The male team defeated their counterparts from Ondo in the finals by 25-18, 24-26, 25-20, and 25-20, while the female team defeated Team Oyo by 25-18, 22-25, 28-26, 16-25, and 15-8. EGYPTIAN ARMY,FREES ETHIOPIANS HELD IN LIBYA-PRESIDENT SISI.

        Today thursday,President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi said Ethiopians who had been kidnapped in Libya arrived at Cairo airport today after Egyptian army forces rescued them.But one Ethiopian in the group,and a Libyan source,appeared to cast doubt on that version of events,saying the men had only been held up by Libyan immigration.The state broadcast gave no details of their identity,the manner of their release or circumstances of detention.Another source claimed that the Egyptian intelligence service,had provide Ligyan authorities with information that helped them free the Ethiopians who had been held by armed groups in the cities of Derna and Misrata.One of the Ethiopians said they had been held by Libyan immigration authorities.''The Libyan government came and took us to the anti illegal immigration body and then the Egyptian government took us from there''.President Sisi further said that ''What happened in Libya is a concern for all of us,and we are saying to the world that Libya should return a safe and stable country for its people and even to its visitors''.
