  The Rivers State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Rivers State Police Command, demanding a public apology for the assault on five journalists during a peaceful protest in Port Harcourt. Failure to comply, the union warned, would result in a statewide media blackout. In a statement jointly signed by Council Chairman Comrade Paul Bazia and Secretary Dr. Ijeoma Tubosia, the NUJ condemned the police actions as “unprovoked, barbaric, and inhuman,” calling for the immediate identification and prosecution of the officers involved. “The NUJ, as a watchdog of society, will not sit idly by while media practitioners are subjected to barbarism and brutality. GOVERNOR FAYOSE,LIFTED THE CURFEW IN EKITI STATE TODAY,AS HE ALSO CLAIMED THAT KIDNAPPING IS NEW TO THE STATE.?.

                 Governor Fayose stated this in his broadcast to his people today sunday in Ado Ekiti.He described the crisis between the Hausa community commercial drivers in Ado Ekiti that led to the imposition of the curfew as unfortunate.He urged residence to be law abiding and conduct their activities in manner that would not cause further break down of law and order.Fayose said that he lifted after security agents had restored peace in the state.He expressed regret for the inconveniences the curfew might have caused the residents of the town.He said his office had also placed N2 million ransom for anybody that could provide information which could facilitate the arrest of those that kidnapped 11 people in different parts of the state recently.He also claimed that kidnapping was strange to Ekiti state,but he would fight it.
