 African Airlines record 5.7% decreased demand for air cargo in February — IATA African airlines recorded a 5.7% year-on-year decline in air cargo demand in February 2025, with capacity decreasing by 0.6% in the same period. Capacity, measured in available cargo tonne-kilometers (ACTK), dropped by 0.4%, although international operations saw a 1.1% increase. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) report showed that global capacity decreased by 0.4%, with international operations showing a slight increase of 0.4% in demand. Globally, air cargo demand fell by 0.1% compared to February 2024, marking the first decline since mid-2023. “African airlines saw a 5.7% year-on-year decrease in demand for air cargo in February. Capacity decreased by 0.6% year-on-year,” the report read in part.                      Today sunday Vanguard published a story about one armed robber identified as 42 year old Olumide Asiyanbi.He was arrested in Oyo state by the Police Command when he was at the registry to sign the marriage certificate.The police alleged he was a member of a six man robbery of a six-man robbery gang who had terrorized residents of Challenge area of Ibadan,the state capital.The state Commissioner of Police,Muhammed Katsina,said the suspects included a 62 year old Ghanaian.Asiyanbi confessed that he had been involved in 10 different robbery attacks before he was arrested.He said ''I was arrested on my wedding day.I met the gang leader,James Agba,last year.He told me he knew how we could be getting regular money.He then initiated me into the gang.I have taken part in at least 10 operation since i joined them.We used gun but i don't know where James was buying them.Sulaimon and Alhaji,who are also in the gang,knew how the guns were bought for our operations.I have fired shots at our targets but nobody was killed''.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
