 POLICE REFORMS: IGP DISU RESTRUCTURES MONITORING UNIT, APPOINTS DCP ALIYU ABUBAKAR AS HEAD OF THE UNIT The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, has approved the comprehensive restructuring of the Police Monitoring Unit as part of ongoing institutional reforms aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness, strengthening internal oversight, and reinforcing discipline across the Nigeria Police Force. The restructuring is necessitated by the need to refocus the Unit on its core mandate, address identified operational inefficiencies, and reposition it as a credible and effective internal accountability mechanism within the Force. As part of the reorganisation, the Unit has been streamlined and strengthened to enhance proactive monitoring, intelligence-driven inspections, and real-time oversight of police personnel and operations across Commands, Formations, and Departments. THE NIGERIAN MILITARY,IMPOSED A CURFEW AFTER BOKO HARAM ATTACKED MAIDUGURI.

                     Today friday morning,it was reported that the Nigerian military has imposed a curfew on the North eastern city of Maiduguri,following an attack by suspected Boko Haram fighters.The attack took place on wednesday.Heavy shooting and explosions were heard on the out skirst of the city,with many fleeing their homes.Residents said they heard heavy shooting and explosions on the outskirts and began fleeing their homes.Maiduguri has become under Boko Haram attacks on Dozens of occasion.The gruop has been relatively quiet recently with the Nigerian army making gains against it's strong hold,the Sambisa forest.Maiduguri has not been attacked since two major takeover attempts in late January and early Febryary and several bombings in march.Several hundred insurgents carried out the latest attack in Maiduguri.The militants were reportedly trying to kidnap a group of women when security forces responded.
