 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots. A NIGERIAN CATHOLIC PRIEST EMMANUEL,WHO WAS KIDNAPPED EARLIER THESE MONTH IN EKITI,HAS BEEN FREED.

PRIEST-620x330                    Rev Father Emmanuel Akingbade,a parish priest of St Benedict of Ido-Ekiti,who was kidnapped from the parish house by three armed men on 8 June,is now free.The Bishop of Ekiti Diocese,Most Rev Felix Ajakaje,confirmed that father Akingbade has been released since June 16 after some negotiations.The kidnappers had asked for a large sum of money but the Bishop said he told them that the church was not a money making institution.He stressed that no ransom had been paid,but gave no further details.Bishop Ajakaje appealed that there should be recriminations or bad feelings against the kidnappers.''We want things to change for the better in our state'' he said.A thanksgiving mass was held these sunday for him at St Patrick Cathedral in Abujal.
