 Group demands declaration of Aba North Assembly seat vacant, threatens protest A group known as the Coalition of Aba North Ethnic Youth Groups has mandated the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Emmanuel Emereuwa to declare the Aba North seat vacant in seven days. The Aba North seat has been a subject of controversy since November 27, 2023, when the Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos sacked Destiny Nwagwu of LP and declared Aaron Uzodike of the PDP, the duly elected member to represent Aba North. However, the seat has remained unoccupied since November 2023, as Uzodike of PDP has not been inaugurated by the Speaker, despite his several appeals. A fresh controversy erupted Friday, as the Coalition of Aba North Ethnic Youths Groups, asked the Speaker to declare the seat vacant within seven days or expect a city-wide protest in Aba.                        According to witnesses in Ekiti state,many of the Major roads that lead the way into the Ekiti state capital,Ado Ekiti,have been barricaded and shut don by thugs under the direction of Governor Ayo Fayose.A spokesperson for Governor Fayose confirmed the news to pressmen saying that PDP supporters are at checkpoints at Ado Ekiti and are preventing APC lawmakers from creating anarchy.The lawmakers efforts to impeach Governor Fayose is intended to stop the peace in the state''.This latest development comes days after Governor Fayose promised an uprising in his state if the All Progressives Congress {APC} lawmakers continued on with their impeachment efforts against him.In particular he called on the motorcycle riders and other groups of Ekiti citizens to obstrct daily life in the state.Witnesses observed Fayose's thugs barricade the Olasore side and Efon Alaye section of the express road,as well as the Ikere section of the Akure Ado express road.Witnesses say the thugs expressed that they would not open the roads until 4pm this wednesday.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. Namtira Bwala has threatened to file a lawsuit against the school authorities if her abusers are not punished within 48 hours. In a letter drafted by her lawyers, Deji Adeyanju and Co, Namtira asked the school authorities to immediately investigate and pronounce the stiffest punishments in the student’s rule book on Ms.Maryam Hassan, Miss Faliya, and nine other students who bullied her.
