  The Rivers State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Rivers State Police Command, demanding a public apology for the assault on five journalists during a peaceful protest in Port Harcourt. Failure to comply, the union warned, would result in a statewide media blackout. In a statement jointly signed by Council Chairman Comrade Paul Bazia and Secretary Dr. Ijeoma Tubosia, the NUJ condemned the police actions as “unprovoked, barbaric, and inhuman,” calling for the immediate identification and prosecution of the officers involved. “The NUJ, as a watchdog of society, will not sit idly by while media practitioners are subjected to barbarism and brutality. GOVERNOR FAYOSE,USED PDP SUPPORTERS,TO CREATE CHECKPOINTS,PREVENTING APC LAWMAKERS FROM IMPEACHING HIM.

                       According to witnesses in Ekiti state,many of the Major roads that lead the way into the Ekiti state capital,Ado Ekiti,have been barricaded and shut don by thugs under the direction of Governor Ayo Fayose.A spokesperson for Governor Fayose confirmed the news to pressmen saying that PDP supporters are at checkpoints at Ado Ekiti and are preventing APC lawmakers from creating anarchy.The lawmakers efforts to impeach Governor Fayose is intended to stop the peace in the state''.This latest development comes days after Governor Fayose promised an uprising in his state if the All Progressives Congress {APC} lawmakers continued on with their impeachment efforts against him.In particular he called on the motorcycle riders and other groups of Ekiti citizens to obstrct daily life in the state.Witnesses observed Fayose's thugs barricade the Olasore side and Efon Alaye section of the express road,as well as the Ikere section of the Akure Ado express road.Witnesses say the thugs expressed that they would not open the roads until 4pm this wednesday.
