Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing.                                                      Todat tuesday,a statement issued by the Special Adviser {Media and Publicity} to the President,Mr Femi Adesina said the president would have preferred that APC process of  electing leaders been followed.Adesina said ''Nonetheless the president took the view that a constitutional process has somewhat occurred.President Buhari had said in an earlier statement that he did not have any preferred candidate for the senate and the House of Representatives,and that he was willing to work with whoever the lawmakers elected.That sentiment still stands.Though he would have preferred the new leaders to have emerged through the process established by the party''.Adesina stressed that the main concerns of President Buhari are the stability of our constitutional order and overall interest of the common man.The President called on all the elected representatives of the people to focus on the enormous task of bring enduring positive change to the lives of Nigerian.More photos below.
