 Former Super Eagles coach Christian Chukwu dies at 74 A former captain and head coach of the Super Eagles, Christian Chukwu, is dead. He was 74. The football legend reportedly passed away in the early hours of Saturday though the exact circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear as of the time of filing this report. His longtime teammate and friend, Dr. Olusegun Odegbami, confirmed the development.. Odegbami, who won the 1980 Africa Nation Cup with Chukwu, said: “I just received the news that between 9:00 and 10:00 this morning, ‘Chairman’ Christian Chukwu, MFR, my bosom friend and teammate, one of the greatest football players in Nigeria’s history, has passed on. “Babuje, Emmanuel Okala, MON, gave me the sad news a few minutes ago. 12 DEAD,3 INJURED AS AGIP'S OIL FIELD IN BAYELSA STATE,EXPLODED YESTERDAY.

                    According to sources,a total of 12 oil workers died in a pipeline explosion which occurred yesterday thursday afternoon at Agip's oil fields in Azuzuama in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area in Bayelsa.A statement issued by Mr Filipo Cotalini,a spokesman for Eni,the parent company of NAOC,today friday in Yenagoa's,said that three others were injured in the explosion at an oil spill site.''The cause of an explosion which occurred yesterday,9 July,late in the afternoon,at the site of the repair works of the Tebidaba Clough Creek line,an oil pipeline in Nigeria's onshore Niger Delta,previously damaged by acts of sabotage,was under investigation.The explosion resulted in the death of 12 member of the maintenance team of a local company of services,with three others also injured.The cause of the incident is still under investigation by both Eni and the local authorities.The company expresses its deepest condolences to the families of those involved in this tragic accident''.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
