 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. 3 MEN WERE PARADED TODAY IN KANO POLICE H.Q,FOR KILLING A STUDENT BASHIR SHEHU,IN COLD BLOOD.

Yandabas arrested by Kano Policemen                  3 Men were arrested today for killing a 27 year old Bashir Shehu,a student of the Federal University of Education,Kano.The men who were arrested were among the dozens of Bandits {Yandabas} paradedat the Bompai Headquarters of Kano state Police Command,today monday.On the 9th of July,Yandabas invaded a classroom in Rumfa college where Bashir and his colleagues were having a group discussion,maiming everyone on sight.According to the Police Public Relations officer of the Command,ASP Magaji Musa Majia,the hoodlums who stormed the school at about 10:00pm,were ''a gang of notorious Yandabas jointly from Gandun Albasa,Dan Agundi and Tukuntawa areas of Kano metropolis.They suddenly invaded the classroom and attacked them with cutlasses,knives,clubs and other dangerous weapons and inflicted various degrees of injuries on his head,chest and all over his body.They also broke his leg and abandoned him in his pool of blood.The gang further went on rampage and attacked MASCO Mechanic garage located at Gandun Albasa and damaged the windscreen and bodies of more than 30 motor vehicles brought for repairs.The Yandabas went further and killed even animals on sight.For instance,dogs,hens and even branches of tress were cut down with sword and machetes''.Working with information from residents,the police and a special police squad led by Mawuya Abubakar,O/C in charge of Strike Force/Daba Operation moved into the area,controlled the situation and moved the body of Bashir to a Kano hospital where he later died.Those arrested for the killing of Bashir include Ibrahim Mu'azu alias Iro-Dawaof Dan Agundi Quarters,Adamu Abdullahi alias Kura of Tukuntawa quarters and Muktari Hassan alias Gwari of Gandun Albasa quarters.The suspects whom police authorities described as notorious criminals and hire assassins,also mentioned the names of 13 others linked with the Rumfa College disturbances.
