 DELTA STATE COMMAND PRESS RELEASE ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS, GUN RUNNERS AND; RECOVERY OF TWO (2) AK-47 RIFLES, AND THIRTY-SIX (36) ROUNDS OF LIVE AMMUNITION The Delta State Police Command has recorded another major breakthrough in an intelligence-led operations targeting suspected kidnappers and illegal arms trafficking syndicate within and beyond the State. 1. ARREST OF FIVE SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS/ RECOVERY OF ONE AK-47 RIFLE AND THIRTY-SIX (36) ROUNDS OF 7.62MM LIVE AMMUNITION: On 24 April 2026 at about 1830hrs, operatives of the command's tactical team based in Ughelli, acting on credible intelligence arrested one Ahmadu Usman (m), 22, a native of Lafiya, Nasarawa State, at Ekuigbo area of Ughelli in connection with a kidnapping syndicate terrorising commuters along Ughelli–Warri Road. Kazeem-and-Zainab Poisoned                                             The incident happened on friday at about 7:am in Lemode area of Ogun state.The baby Zainab Olajide who was 41 days old has been poisoned by her own father identified as Kazeem Olajide,in attempt to divorce his wife.According to sources,the mother Abosede Ogundare,had left Zainab with Kazeem to sweep the compound only to come back and met the baby with foams gushing out from her mouth.It was learnt that Ogundare alerted neighbours to the incident having found a bottle containing pesticide with her husband.The baby Zainab was said to have been rushed to a hospital in the community,where she eventually died.The suspect,who hails from Abeokuta,Ogun state,attempted to flee,but was held by residents,while the landlord of the house reported the case to the monarch of the community,Oba Solomon Sokunbi.It was gathered that the father was handed over to the policemen at the Agbado Police Division after he confessed to the crime before the monarch.A resident,who identified himself only as Biodun,said Kazeem had been threatening to divorce his wife before the baby's untimely death.
