Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. It was reported today by court officials,that an Egyptian court,sentenced to death 12 members of the Islamic state group {ISIL}yesterday thursday for planning attacks against police and soldiers in the country.Six of those who were on trial are behind bars,while the rest are still at large.They were convicted of having joined ISIL which has declared a ''caliphate'' in parts of Iraq and Syria under its control and of plotting to attack members of Egypt's police force and military.The sentences issued will either be confirmed or commuted on September 12 by the court in the northern province of Sharkia.In a separate trial,two cousins were sentenced to three years in prison in the same province for using facebook to promote the ideology of ISIL.One more photo below.
