The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO), yesterday, sealed off some buildings/properties across the state over different environmental infractions. They are; * A property on 34, Adeniji Adele, Lagos Island for deliberate discharge of raw sewage into the public drain causing offensive odour and sewage flowing in the community, constituting public nuisance, environmental pollution and endangering human life. * A block of Shops along Powerline Road, Meiran, Alimosho, for the illegal construction and operation of unsanitary toilet facility on a road setback without a permit, constituting public nuisance, environmental pollution and endangering human life. * A three-storey building at 38, Adeniji Adele Street, Lagos Island for deliberate discharge of raw sewage into the public drain. * A building at H29, House of Jesus Street, Langbasa, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, for the deliberate discharge of raw sewage into the public drains. Yesterday saturday,a car and a 14 sitter bus clashed and 14 people were today sunday,confirmed dead by the Federal Road Safety Commission {FRSC}in the terrible crash that occurred at Amasiri Secondary School junction,along Afikpo Okigwe road in Ebonyi state.Mr Roland Ogbuke,Afikpo Unit Commander of FRSC,tld NAN that accident involved an articulated vehicle and a 14-seater bus.According to him,the bus was conveying members of the Assemblies of God Church,Is in Ohaoazara Local Government Area,who were returning from a burial.''We received a distress call on saturday and immediately mobilised my rescue officers to the scene of the incident.We are not sure of the cause of the accident,but an eye witness told us that the articulated vehicle was trying to dodge a heap of sand on the road and ended up hitting the oncoming vehicle.The impact of the hit by the articulated vehicle threw the bus to a tree some metres away from the road and squeezed it into some zero shape that mangled bodies of the occupants.We had to mobilise a nearby quarry company which used its heavy duty machine to cut the tree and the bus,in order to evacuate the mangled bodies of the passengers''.He added that the crushed passengers were mostly women,that their relatives and church members,who were in other vehicles,help FRSC officers in the evacuation process.''The police in particular,assisted the FRSC in evacuating the bodies to the Mater Misericordae Hospital,Afikpo''.
