 A Limpopo man who stabbed his girlfriend to death in front of his own mother will spend the next 20 years in prison. The Polokwane High Court sentenced 48 year old Nathaniel Molatelo Mokgehle from Sekonye Village in the Botlokwa policing area for the murder of his girlfriend, 41 year old Mokgadi Julia Mohlaela. The court heard he chased her out of the house and continued stabbing her until she collapsed and died. Mokgehle also received six months for malicious damage to property. The sentence will run at the same time as the 20 year murder sentence. Evidence presented in court showed the victim had previously opened a malicious damage to property case against him. He was still attending court for that case when the murder happened. The attack happened on 08 June 2025 around 16:00 at his mother’s home in Sekonye Village. 40,000 NIGERIAN POLICEMEN,TO BE PROMOTED-IGP.

                       Today saturday,the Inspector General of Police Solomon Arase said about 40,000 policemen between the rank of Constable and Inspector would be promoted in the next two months.He disclosed this during his private visit to Lagos,and noted that the rank and file were the offices doing the major jos,including arrests,investigations and other special duties.He noted that these officers were closer to the people than senior officers,stressing that due attention should be given to them by mitigating their burdens.The I-G said as part of effort to encourage these officers,the police authorities had embark on housing projects across the six geo-political zones to build two bedroom flats valued at about N4 million each in collaboration with mortgage institutions.''There have been a backlog of promotions between the constable and inspector cadre,involving about 36,000 of them.Two groups are already undergoing their promotional courses.Withing the next two months,about 40,000 policemen between the rank of constable and inspector will undertake promotion exercise,and be moved up to the next rank.If we are able to solve the problem of the rank and file in the police,half of the issues we are dealing with,which is corruption would be resolved''.He further said that those who would participate in the promotion exercises would be given allowances for feeding,transport and others.One more photo below.
