Setting the Records Straight on Citizen Asar Michael Sesugh's Death The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, considered it imperative to clear the air on some recent incidents at its Makurdi Zonal Directorate, Benue State. Operatives of the Directorate arrested 26 suspected cyber fraudsters on April 28, 2026. They were profiled and kept in custody for further investigations after obtaining a Remand Order at a Magistrate Court. Shortly after their arrest, specifically on May 4, 2026, three of the suspects sought permission to use the lavatory at the Directorate's Holding Facility and were permitted. They cashed in on the opportunity, broke the toilet's roof and escaped from detention. Several efforts were made to re- arrest them to no avail. One person was confirmed dead today as a fatal accident involving a 50 seater mass transit-bus belonging to Edo state government popularly called comrade bus.The victim is identified as a man but his name and where he is from,has not been disclosed.The accident occurred around 12:30pm today friday afternoon in Ekae community,located along Sapele road,in Oredo Local Government Area of the state.According to other sources,the victim and a woman,who was believed to be his wife,were waiting along the busy highway to board a vehicle to Warri,Delta state when the bus veered off the road and knocked him down,severing his head in the process.The woman was said to have narrowly escaped being hit by the vehicle,while some of the passengers on the vehicle were said to have sustained varying degrees of injury.''It looks like the brake failed because of the way the bus just hit the man and removed his head.The man died instantly but the woman was lucky to jump and escape''.His body was deposited at the Stella Obasanjo Hospital.
