 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. A NIGERIAN DOCTOR OSONUGA,SHORTLISTED TO TRAVEL TO SPACE.

2758717_image                                                                             According to sources,a Doctor identified as Freeman Osonuga has been shortlisted as one of the lucky human being to travel to space.He was selected through the Rising Star programme,which was launched at the One Young World Summit 2014 in Dublin.The Programme invited both One Young World ambassadors and outstanding members of the public aged 18-30 to nominate themselves to take on the trip of a lifetime.If selected for the programme one will not only embark on a once in a lifetime flight to space but will also be offered a three year management contract.He will be the first black African to fly to space.Osonuga is a 2015 WIRED Innovation fellow.He will be speaking live on stage at WIRED 2015 conference in October in London.Sources further said that in late 2014,at the peak of the Ebola epidemic in West Africa,he worked as a volunteer with the Africa Union team of Ebola responders for 6 months in Sierra Leone.Freeman Osonuga,graduated from Olabisi Onabanjo University where he studied medicine and surgery.
