PDP postpones NEC meeting as N’Central insists on chair The North Central caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party has expressed opposition to the indefinite postponement of its 99th National Executive Committee meeting, which was initially set for November 28. In a statement on Thursday, the Peoples Democratic Party, through its National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, explained that the 99th National Executive Committee meeting was postponed due to the funeral of Patience Umo Eno, the late First Lady of Akwa Ibom State and wife of Governor Umo Eno. It was previously reported by The PUNCH on Tuesday that the PDP acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, with the support of former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, had made arrangements to stay in his position. A police sergeant attached to the Taskforce for dismantling tanker traffic in Apapa area of Lagos was yesterday tuesday crushed to death by a tanker.The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command,DSP Patricia Amadin,confirmed the incident to NAN,today wednesday.She said the deceased was identified as Lukas Abashi,and the driver of the vehicle with Reg No.ANC 66XA escaped after the accident.She said the policeman died at the spot after tanker ran over him.The driver attempted to escape with the vehicle,but for the intervention of other members of the taskforce who used motorcycles to pursue him.She said the policeman was on official duty as at the time of the accident,adding that the tanker has the inscription TOTAL.The body of the police man had been deposited in the mortuary,while the tanker was taken to a police station in Apapa.She further said that the police were still trailing the driver.
