 LAGOS UNVEILS NATIONAL INTERMEDIATE GAMES’ MASCOT IN READINESS FOR HOSTING COMPETITION  In demonstration of Lagos State’s readiness to host the maiden edition of the National Intermediate Games coming up later in the year, the Lagos State Sports Commission unveiled the Games’ mascot and logo in Ikeja at a brief ceremony. The unveiling, which marked the commencement of activities for the Games, was attended by top state government dignitaries, sports administrators, and enthusiasts from across the length and breadth of the country. BURUNDI OPPOSITION PARTY,ORDERS PRESIDENT NKURUNZIZA TO STEP DOWN FROM POWER.

            According to Leonard Nyangoma,a veteran political leader who heads the opposition CNARED coalition,said President Nkurunziza had declared war on his people and demanded the president to step down from office.Nyangoma described the situation in Burundi as extremely serious saying that both the political,socio-economic situations were deteriorating day by day.The election held last month in Burundi were boycotted by the opposition and the international community condemned them as being neither free nor fair.Nyangoma who is skeaking from Europe,where he is now based said ''Security forces are targeting opponents of Nkurunziza with numerous arrests,torture,killings and atrocities''.Nkurunziza's effort to run for a third term in office sparked protest,failed coup and fleeing of Burundi citizens who are currently refugees in neighbouring countries.One more photo below.
