  Oshiomhole Convinced Us To Make Obaseki Governor – Philip Shaibu Philip Shaibu, the former Deputy Governor of Edo State, has disclosed that his choice to support his former boss, Godwin Obaseki, stemmed from his respect for Adams Oshiomhole, the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to Naija News, Shaibu shared his doubts about Obaseki during an interview on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm program on Tuesday. Shaibu admitted that he lacked confidence in Obaseki's leadership even before they took office on November 12, 2016. He explained that despite his initial hesitations, he ultimately backed Obaseki out of respect and based on the assurances provided by Oshiomhole. He stated, “Obaseki is not a politician. We made him governor because Oshiomhole persuaded us. DR BABATUNDE FOWLER,APPOINTED AS THE NEW FIRS CHAIRMAN BY PRESIDENT BUHARI.

                                                          Dr William Babatunde Fowler,appointed as the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service {FIRS}by the President of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari.Dr Fowler was the Chief Executive Officer/Executive Chairman of the Lagos state Board of internal Revenue from 2005 to 2014.Under his leadership,the Lagos state Board of Internal Revenue reportedly achieved a sharp increase in internally generated revenue from an average of N3.6.billion per month in January 2006,to an average of about N20.5 billion per month in 2013.He will serve as acting Executive Chairman of FIRS until his appointment is confirmed by the senate.President Buhari has also appointed Mr Aliyu Yahaya Gusau as Director General Budget Office of the Federation.Mr Gusau's appointment is with effect from August 18,2015 ans is for a term of four years,renewable for another four years.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up. The Appellant is an actor. He acted in a script that he was invited to act by his colleague (PW1), Damilola Adekoya,” he said.
