 NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT.  Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar  and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination.  A reinforcement team  from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision. U.N SECRETARY GENERAL BAN KI-MOON,ARRIVED NIGERIA EARLIER TODAY.

                  Today sunday,United Nation Secretary General Ban Ki-moon arrived Nigeria to commemorate the bombing of the UN's headquarters by Islamist sect Boko Haram and also to focus new attention on over 200 school girls kidnapped in chibok,Borno state by the ruthless extremists.Ki-moon will meet with President Muhammadu Buhari tomorrow  monday,amid plans to launch a long delayed regional offensive against the Islamic insurgents who have since pledged allegiance to the Islamic state.A UN statement says the leaders will discuss ways to counter violent extremism as well as human rights and climate change.Ki-moon will also meet the Bring Back Our Girls group and he will lay a wreath to mark the anniversary of the August 26,2011 suicide car bombing that killed 21 people at the UN Nigeria headquarters in Abuja.
