 LAWMA SEALS PREMISES ON AGO PALACE WAY, ARRESTS 11 DUMPERS ON LAGOS ISLAND … Intensifies Enforcement Against Illegal Waste Disposal In renewed enforcement efforts, the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has sealed premises identified for persistent illegal waste dumping along Ago Palace Way and arrested 11 persons for illegal waste disposal in various parts of Lagos Island. The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of LAWMA, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, said that the enforcement operations underscored the Authority’s resolve to enforce existing waste management regulations and ensure compliance with approved waste disposal practices across Lagos. He explained that the Ago Palace Way operation covered plazas, hotels, lounges and warehouses along the corridor, as part of efforts to tackle activities contributing to waste build-up and environmental nuisance on road setbacks, medians and other unauthorised public spaces. 5 PILGRIMS FROM GOMBE STATE,DECLARED MISSING IN SAUDI ARABIA+FREE SALLAH GIFTS FROM GOMBE GOVERNOR.

                 According to the Executive Secretary,Gombe state Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board,Alhaji Usman Gurama told newsmen in Mina,Saudi Arabia today saturday that five pilgrims from Gombe state have been declared missing in Saudi Arabia and the pilgrims could not be located since thursday.He said that members of the medical team had been checking hospitals and mortuaries with a view to locating them or their remains.He however said that for now,it had not been confirmed as to whether they were among those who died as a result of thursday's incident at the stone throwing venue called ''Jamrat'',where over 700 pilgrims died.Gurama confirmed that seven pilgrims from the state were injured at the scene of the incident and were responding to treatment.Meanwhile the Governor of Gombe state Ibrahim Dankwambo,today saturday gave the sate pilgrims 585,300 {N32.7 million } as Sallah gift.Each pilgrims had received 300 Saudi Riyals {N16,800}.
