 PRESS RELEASE  6TH OSOM GAMES TODAY DECLARED OPEN BY THE NSC CHAIRMAN.  The National Sports Commission (NSC) is making headlines once again with its commitment to promoting Nigerian athletes through regular internal competitions. Today, Mallam Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), declared the 6th OSOM Games open in a colourful ceremony at the Moshood Abiola International Stadium in Abuja. This statement reinforces the Commission's dedication to their Renewed Hope Initiative for Nigerian Sports Economy (RHINSE) mandate and their goal of turning sports from a field of consumption to one of production. The OSOM Games, which stands for One Service One Medal, is an inter-security agency competition that aims to foster unity and camaraderie among the various security agencies in Nigeria. 6 PEOPLE DIED YESTERDAY IN SOKOTO STATE,AFTER A BOAT CAPSIZED.

                        Yesterday saturday,six people died in a boat accident that occurred in a river in Bengaji District of Yabo Local Government Area of Sokoto state.Today sunday Alhaji Mika'ilu Sabo-Yabo,the Assistant Information Officer of the local government,confirmed the deaths in a statement issued to newsmen in Sokoto.He said the six persons died after the boat they were travelling in capsized.According to the statement,four other passengers of the ill fated boat survived with minor injuries.The boat broke into two while in motion before it capsized killing six of the passengers,who were from Kissa,Gadara and Kalangu villages.''Nobody can tell me what really happened as at now,but further investigations would reveal the real cause of the mishap.The deceased have since been buried according to Islamic rites,while the injured persons are responding to treatment at the hospital''.
