Kaduna businessman drags ex fiancee’s father to court, demands dowry refund A businessman, Nasiru Dayyabu, on Wednesday, dragged the father of his ex-fiance, Mallam Sani Direba, to Shari’a Court II sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna over N260,000 dowry. The complainant had joined Direba in the suit against two brothers demanding a refund of N250, 000 dowry and N10,000 introduction money he paid to marry his daughter. Represented by his counsel, Mr Sani Sunusi, the complainant told the court that he sent his people from Karaye, Kano State to Kaduna in 2025, to seek for the defendant’s daughter’s hand in marriage. “We paid the dowry and the introduction money (kudin gausuwa) and were waiting for them to set a date for the wedding,” he said. “Unfortunately, the lady’s father called to inform us that they have cancelled the marriage.” The counsel said the complainant had asked for the refund of his money since Sept. 2025 but all the efforts he made proved abortive. Yesterday saturday morning,armed robbers invaded the residence of National Youth Corps members serving in Ogun state.The residence is located behind Development Centre,Presidential Boulevard,Abeokuta,the Ogun state capital.The robbery at the lodge,which is the third within five months,occurred at about 3:00am when the Youth Corps members were fast asleep.Items lost include some amount of money,ten laptops and over twenty five telephones.An eyewitness account has it that the bandits exploited the absence of security in the vicinity to gain access to the lodge and at gun point robbed the Youth Corps members.The armed robbers forced their way into each flat at gun point and thereafter embarked on the raid,unhindered.Two of the bandits moved from one room to the other to ransack,while the other two stayed outside to attack anybody that resisted.The Youth Corps members said they had earlier reported the two previous incidents to the police but no action was taken until the robbers struck again yesterday saturday morning..The Corp Members said ''We are begging security authorities in the state and NYSC authorities to come to our aid before the bandits start killing us''.Police sources who confirmed the incident,informed that efforts are ongoing to provide adequate surveillance in the area.
