  The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has dismissed a viral claim circulating on social media about the introduction of new ₦5,000 and ₦10,000 banknotes, labeling it as fake news. The claim, which included fabricated images of the supposed new denominations featuring Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Chief Obafemi Awolowo, falsely stated that the new notes would enter circulation from May 1, 2025. In a statement on its verified Facebook account, the CBN clarified that the content is not from the bank and directed the public to its official website, (www.cbn.gov.ng), for authentic information. The bank warned against spreading misinformation regarding monetary policies and urged Nigerians to rely only on official statements from its verified channels. The CBN reaffirmed that any major policy decision, including the introduction of new banknotes, would be announced through its official platforms.                            This is contained in the Lagos State University {LASU}official bulletin,a copy of which was made available to NAN.It noted that while deserving female members of staff of the institution had been proceeding on maternity leave,their male counterparts were yet to enjoy it.''The university authority hereby reminds members of staff {male} of the existing Lagos State Maternity and Paternity leave approved for employees in the state's civil service.It would be recalled that the university authority at its meeting on Sept.8,2014,considered and approved the implementation of the new Lagos state maternity and paternity leave for officials in the state's public service.The male members of staff who wish to make official request for paternity leave are to do so on the first day of delivery of the baby.In addition,for deliveries that fall on weekends,application should be forwarded to the establishment on the first day of work.Please not that paternity leave is for the first 10 days in relation to and at the time of the first two deliveries of a male staff's spouse''

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
