 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. MUGABE'S SOUND MIND WAS QUESTIONED,AFTER HE MADE A PUBLIC WRONG SPEECH YESTERDAY.

                  Yesterday tuesday,91 year old Zimbabwe President,Robert Mugabe read out a wrong speech at the opening of parliament,an error which the main opposition quickly used to question whether he is of sound mind.Mugabe who is termed as the oldest ruler in Africa since 1980,delivered the same speech he gave on August 25,pinning his hopes on China t help revive Zimbabwe's struggling economy.Mugabe finished the speech without interruption and his spokesman blamed officials,adding that the president would read the correct speech at a later date.His spokesman George Charamba said ''The mix up happened in his secretarial office.Therefore the delivery in Parliament should be set aside''.But the main opposition Movement for Democratic Change {MDC},which is critical of Mugabe's long rule,said the blunder called into question his fitness to hold office.Mugabe shows no visible signs of illness and has denied reports that he suffers from prostate cancer,and he also dismissed a fall at Harare airport on 4th of April as a simple slip.
