 At least seven dead after ferry carrying nearly 270 people capsizes off northern Cyprus coast  At least seven people have died after a ferry carrying nearly 270 passengers and crew capsized off the northern coast of Cyprus on Sunday. Northern Cyprus Prime Minister Unal Ustel said 237 people had been rescued, while search teams continued looking for 24 others. The ferry encountered difficult weather conditions and began taking on water about 15 minutes after leaving port, prompting a distress call shortly afterward. The catamaran-style vessel was traveling from Kyrenia, also known as Girne, in northern Cyprus to the Turkish port of Tasucu in Mersin province. Kyrenia Mayor Murat Senkul said the ferry was operated by Filo Denizcilik and sank off Diana beach along Cyprus’ northern coast. N4 MILLION WORTH OF FAKE DRUGS,SEIZED BY NAFDAC IN JIGAWA STATE.

               Today sunday,the National Agency for food and Drug Administration and Control {NAFDAC} in Jigawa said that it confiscated fake and unregistered drugs worth four million naira in the last two years.The NAFDAC  State Coordinator Mr Olaniran Olakunle,disclosed this in Dutse while presenting to newsmen some suspects allegedly arrested with fake drugs in Gwaram and Malammadori Local Government areas.Olakunle said that most of the suspects arrested with fake and counterfeit drugs during the period were in rural communities across the state.He said that fake drugs such as mixacrip tablets,herpgra,busaka,polycid and tramadol capsule were seized from some patent medicine vendors in Gwaram and Malammadori last week.The value of drugs seized from them is about N250,000.The coordinators said the suspects were being investigated to ascertain the sources of the products in order to bring the entire chain to justice.He further said that the suspects would soon be charged to court.He urged members of the public to be vigilant and patronise only registered pharmacies in their localities.
