LASG ISSUES TRAFFIC ADVISORY AHEAD OF FANTI CARNIVAL The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversions and restrictions ahead of the Lagos Fanti Carnival scheduled to hold on Monday, 6th April, 2026, around Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos Island. In a bid to ensure a seamless and hitch-free carnival procession, vehicular movement will be restricted along major adjoining roads linking TBS. Affected Routes are; King George V Road (by Mobil Filling Station), Flag House inbound TBS, Force Road inbound TBS, Onikan Roundabout inbound TBS, and WaterBoy Roundabout by Old Defence House. Additionally, all link roads to Moloney Road, such as Military Road (by Old Defence Building), Ajasa Street, Boyle Street, and Hawley Street, will be closed to traffic during the event. Today tuesday,it was confirmed that one pilgrim from Nasarawa state,died while two others were missing in the Saudi Arabia stampede.The confirmation was contained in a statement by the board's Public Relations Officer,Mallam Abdulrazaq Mohammed in Lafia.According to the statement,one of the 54 Nigerian pilgrims confirmed dead by National Hajj Commission {NAHCON} in a stampede in Mina,has been confirmed to be from Nasarawa state.It added that two oither pilgrims from the state who were declared missing had not beed found.The dead pilgrim,the statement said,is Mallam Ahmad Mainasara from Gadaukr community in Toto Local Government Area of the state.It said that the deceased and a close companion were on their way to Jamrat {stoning} when he met his untimely death which was witnessed by the close companion who narrowly escaped the stanpede.It gave the name of the missing person as Mallama Rashida Shuaibu,adding that the name of the other,who hailed from Keffi had not been confirmed.The board explained that its Executive Secretary,Mallam Abubakar Nalaraa,led other board members on a room to room search for pilgrims from state at the holy land to take the stock of pilgrims from the state''.
