 NUT Protest : Wike Warns Against Politicising Insecurity The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned against politicising insecurity amid protests by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, FCT wing, over the killing and abduction of school staff and children in Oyo State. Teachers stormed the FCTA Secretariat in Abuja to condemn the killing of Michael Oyedokun and to demand the release of abducted pupils and teachers from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area. The FCT minister addressed the protesters on Tuesday, saying the federal government is on its toes working to secure the rescue of the schoolchildren and their teachers. Wike urged protesters to avoid turning the tragedy into a political issue and to give security efforts time to produce results. NIGERIAN UNION OF JOURNALIST,PLANS TO DISRUPT THISDAY EVENT TOMORROW FOR NON PAYMENT OF SALARIES.

                 In a statement by the National President of Nigerian Union of Journalists {NUJ},Waheed Odusile said today friday in Lagos that the publisher of Thisday,Mr Nduka Obaigbena,had been notified,and that if the management failed to effect the payment of their outstanding salaries by 2pm today friday September 4,2015,the union would disrupt the organisation's 20th anniversary celebration.According to NAN's report,the anniversary celebration is scheduled to hold on saturday,September 5,at the Eko Hotels and Suites,Victoria Island,Lagos.The statement said that the letter sent to Obaigbenna on wednesday,noted that the action would take place with the full backing of the Nigeria Labour Congress.''There is no going back on the disruption of the company's 20th anniversary celebration except the flamboyant publisher pays his workers by 2pm on friday''.
