 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. THE OWNER OF THE TRUCK THAT FELL & KILLED 3 PEOPLE IN OJUELEGA,WAS ARRAIGNED TODAY.

               Today tuesday,the owner of the truck whose container fell and killed three people at Ojuelegba overhead bridge,in Lagos on the 2nd of September 2015 Mr Kilani Ojo Adesanya was arraigned before an Ebute Metta Chief Magistrate court in Lagos state.The 50 year old was arraigned today tuesday on a two count criminal charge of giving the truck to a driver without driving documents.He was brought before the court by the men of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department of Lagos State Police Command,Panti,Yaba Lagos.The accused truck owner was alleged to have permitted the driver of the truck Wasiu Adeleke to drive his truck with registration number EPE 46 XK without a valid driver's license issued to him by the appropriate.He was also alleged to have given the truck to the driver to drive on the highway without MOT test certificate,road worthiness certificate,and vehicle license issued in respect of the truck by the appropriate authorities.The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.His lawyer Mr W.O.Toriola urged the court to grant him bail on self recognition.He hinged the bail application on the premise that the accused is a senior citizen of the country without any previous criminal record.The prosecutor did not oppose the bail application.However,the presiding Chief Magistrate,Mrs.A.Folashade Botoku,queried the prosecutor,Barrister Osuyi,for not informing the court of the sister case,in which the driver of the truck was charged before the court,and for not asking for the two cases.The driver of the truck,Wasiu Adeleke,was arraigned before the court last friday,on 11 count charge of multiple manslaughter as the accident caused the death of three persons namely 52 Abubakar Sule,46 year old Umaru Sulaiman and 28 year old Kamilu Umaru.The driver pleaded not guilty to all the count charges.The Chief Magistrate adjourned the matter till 23 September 2015 for ruling on the bail application.One more photo below.
