 The credibility of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voters’ register has come under intense scrutiny ahead of the 2027 general elections, following revelations by INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan that names of deceased persons remain on the register. Amupitan disclosed that names of voters who died as far back as 15 years ago are still listed, a situation critics say could undermine the integrity of the 2027 polls and lead to significant financial waste through the printing of excess ballot papers and other election logistics. The INEC chairman made the revelation while receiving the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Abisoye Coker-Odusote, and her management team during a courtesy visit in Abuja on Wednesday. BURUJI KASHAMU,REMOVED FROM THE SENATE TODAY.

                                   Today in Ogun state,the Election Tribunal nullified the election of Buruji Kashamu.The decision was made today in Abeokuta and ordered a rerun in 110 polling units,where irregularities were established.Prince Dapo Abiodun,the All Progressives Congress,APC Ogun East Senatorial candidate in the March 28 Presidential and National Assembly Election challenged Kashamu's victory at the tribunal,claiming that Kashamu was not validly elected.Abiodun wanted the tribunal to declare him the winner of the Ogun Easy Senate seat.While delivering the judgement this afternoon,Justice Tobi Ebimowei said that there were some irregularities,some anomalies,adding that,some of them have been proven while some were not proven.The Justice noted that Ijebu Ode loca government area was the only local government out of the nine in Ogun East that election results were not cancelled because the irregularities were minimal.One more photo below.
