TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms. It was reported today sunday that yesterday saturday afternoon,at least eight people died in shooting that took place overnight in Burundi.Local residents told newsmen that the police were behind the killings and haf been accompanied by unamed members of the rulling CNDD[FDD party's youth wing[Imonerakure,who stole items such as mobile phone from houses.Residents also said most of the dead were civilians and that some had been found with their hands tied behind their backs.Deputy Police spokesman Pierre Nkurikiye denied that officers had beed involved in the killings and said those responsible were criminals whom the police were pursuing.Remy Barampama,the head of Ntahangwa district in which Mutakura and Cibitoke fall said ''In total eight people have been killed,six in Cibitoke and Mutakura neighborhoods.Police officers were also wounded''.
