A group of middle school students are being hailed as heroes after stopping a runaway bus and saving the driver who was suffering a medical emergency. Five students from Hancock Middle School, in Hancock County, Mississippi, saved the day on April 22nd when their bus driver, 47-year-old Leah Taylor, blacked out during an acute asthma attack. Leah was in the process of attempting to self administer medication when she blacked out. The bus was loaded with around 40 children when 12-year-old Jackson Casnave noticed the bus beginning to swerve. Jackson wasted no time jumping into action. He rushed to take control of the wheel while calling for help. His plea for help was answered by 4 additional brave students. 12-year-old Darius Clark rushed to Jackson's aid and began hitting the brakes. The Lagos State Agency for Residents Registration {LASRRA} has taken its sensitization programme to Festac Town as part off efforts to ensure adequate participation of more residents in the on going residents registration exercise in the state.The street to street public enlightenment campaign,which took place yesterday thursday,emphasized the importance of registration in creating an updatable database for effective and efficient management of resources for even development.Flyers and hand bills high lighting the essence of the exercise were distributed to youths,traders and passers by in the Festac Town Area of Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area while residents questions were also responded to.Meanwhile,the General Manager ,LASRRA,Ms.Yinka Fashola has been given an award of Icon of Administrative Prudence for her outstanding strides towards nation building,Societal transformation,youth empowerment and emancipation,outstanding service to God,humanity and Nigeria.The Award was presented to her by the initiative for Positive influence on the Youths {IFPIOTY},a Non-Governmental Organisation {NGO} based in Abuja at the LASRRA head office,Agidingbi,Ikeja.One more photo below.
