Aguiyi Orders Investigation into Trans Nkisi Mining Site Over Environmental Compliance By Amaka Isikala The Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Clem Aguiyi, has ordered an investigation into the environmental compliance status of a mining site at Trans Nkisi, Onitsha, following concerns over extensive land degradation and its possible contribution to the growing gully erosion threatening the community. The directive followed an inspection visit to the site on August 1, during which the commissioner was accompanied by leaders of the Trans Nkisi community. The visit formed part of the ministry's ongoing assessment of environmentally sensitive locations across the state in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo's Fifth Pillar of Development, Environment and Urban Regeneration. The President of Namibia Hage Geingob,made the pledge on saturday when he addressed the ruling Swapo Party rally in Windhoek where he officially launched the party's campaign for next month's regional and local authorities elections.President Hage Geingob was heard saying to his supporters who gathered at the Katutura Multi-purpose centre that ''I am ready to set aside 20 percent of my salary in order to set up a scolarship fund for impoverished children''.President Hage Geingob earns about 2 million Namibian dollars {about 76,000 U.S dollars} per year and this means he will give away about 400,000 Namibian dollars {30,580 U.S dollars}.From research,it was discovered that the Namibian government has made poverty eradication a special focus,so they created a whole ministry for it ''Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare''.One more photo below.
