 A popular content creator has died from surgery complication     Esther Thomas, popularly known as Sunshine, was a Nigerian content creator, skit maker, and brand influencer. She died on Friday, 9 January 2026, after complications from fibroid surgery. She had been complaining of serious stomach pain from late December 2025.     Sunshine was first admitted at Orchid General Hospital in Lagos, where her friends said she was only given pain relief drugs because doctors were on strike. Her condition did not improve, so she was moved to another hospital on 2 January 2026, where tests showed she had a large fibroid and surgery was carried out. She later developed complications and died. After her death, friends blamed Orchid General Hospital online, saying she was neglected and did not receive proper treatment early enough.                Police in Kenya conducted aa mock security exercise at a campus in Kenya's capital today monday that sparked panic over a feared attack.Japheth Koome,the police commander in the capital told pressmen that ''It was a mock exercise,we wanted to check on alertness of emergency services''.While other sources claimed that ''Terror drill in a Kenya university left scores injured as panic gripped students,lecturers and administrators.Gunshots were fired during the surprise drill at the Strathmore University at noon {EAT} on monday.Scores of students were injured during the drill as they tried to escape from lectures halls''.More photos below.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”. He said: “Our orders for four attack helicopters from the United States of America will take some time to arrive. We have approached Turkey for assistance.” The President, however, stated that the delays were affecting the public’s perception of the administration’s commitment to addressing the security challenges.
