  President Bola Tinubu has identified the creative economy as a pivotal element of his administration’s economic diversification agenda, reaffirming his commitment to positioning Nigeria’s creative sector as a driving force for global influence. The President stated this at the launch of the 2024 Abuja International Carnival at Eagle Square, Abuja. President Tinubu, represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, said the carnival reaffirms the essence of who Nigerians are—”a people of culture, a people of art, a people of colour, and a people of shared values”. Zainab Usman                      Today friday one of the candidate {Zainab Usman}that is to context for Governor under African Democratic Congress {ADC} tomorrow saturday in Kogi state,has withdrawn from the race at the last minute.Usman who is the only female in the race,is stepping down and pitching her tent with the candidate of the All Progressives Congress {APC} Prince Abubakar Audu,according to a statement she signed today friday.She said she decided to step down for Audu because he is the only candidate that can take the state to the promise land.''I decided to dump my ambition and support Audu to move the state forward and continue from where he stopped in 2003.I have thus directed all my supporters to go out and vote en mass for the APC and Prince Audu tomorrow''.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
