 NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT.  Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar  and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination.  A reinforcement team  from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision. CLASH BY RIVAL GROUPS DISRUPTED BAYELSA POLLS,BUT NORMALCY WAS RESTORED BY THE POLICE

                        According to the Nigerian Police Public Relations Officer Mr Asinim Butswat an ASP,who spoke with NAN today in Yenagoa said the Command had received report of clash by rival groups which disrupted the electoral process in the area.He said one person was injured during the clash,while the police arrested some suspects in the process.''We have made some arrests and normalcy has been restored in the area.Security reinforcement was sent to Oporoma and we can say that the electoral process had commenced there''.He further state that the information available to the police showed that no life was lost during the clash.He said that accreditation had commenced in some parts of the area,and the governorship election in these areas had been peaceful while security agents were on high alert to check any breach of the law.One more photo below.
