 STATEHOUSE PRESS STATEMENT PRESIDENT TINUBU'S MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCE TO CHIMAMANDA ADICHIE AND HER FAMILY   With a deep sense of grief, I condole with Ms Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, her husband, Dr Ivara Esege, and the entire family on the passing of their son, Nkanu Nnamdi.   As a parent myself who has suffered the loss of a loved one, no grief is as devastating as losing a child.   I empathise with the family at this difficult time, and I mourn this sad loss with them.   Ms Adichie is a literary icon who has brought joy and light to many homes globally, and I pray she and her family find strength in the Almighty in this trying hour.   My prayers are with the family.   Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Federal Republic of Nigeria January 8, 2026

THE DEATH TOLL FROM FRIDAY CLASH IN BURUNDI,RISES TO 90.

                Nearly 90 people were killed during Friday's clashes in Burundi capital.Blasts and gunfire echoed around Bujumbura for most of friday and residents said officials spent the day collecting dead bodies sprayed with bullets from the street of the city.Army spokesman Gaspard Baratuza said gunmen had attacked three military sites in Bujumbura,kindling a day of clashes across the city.He said 79 attackers were killed and 45 others captured.Four police officers and four soldiers also died.He said further that Swep operations have finished now and officials confiscated weapons and ammunition.The unrest in Burundi started in April when President Pierre Nkurunziza announced plans for a third term in office.More photos below.
