NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT. Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination. A reinforcement team from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision. According to the U.S Embassy in Nigeria who said yesterday friday that they had received information that groups associated with terrorism in Nigeria may be panning attacks against hotels in the country that are frequented by westerners.In a brief message for U.S citizens,the embassy said it had no further information regarding the timing or method of any planned attacks.''The U.S mission all its citizens to be vigilant when at hotels and around areas frequented by expartriates and foreign travellers.....Locating where large crowds may gather,government facilities''..One more photo below.
