OVER 25 MILLION PHONES STOLEN IN ONE YEAR- FG. (PHOTO).

 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. A CHINESE MAN ''XIONG'',COMMITTED SUICIDE IN FRONT OF A BANK TODAY IN CHINA.

                    According to sources,a man hanged himself in front of a Chinese bank this morning after not being able to cope with losing money to telephone scams.The man,known only by his surname of Xiong,lost more than 10,000 Yuan {£1,043} when he recently became a victim of fraud in Henan Province,central China.His lifeless body was found hanging in full view of the public outside the Agricultural Bank of China in the city of Xinxiang this morning.According to the report,Mr Xiong lost the money two days ago after he received a telephone call that turned out to be a scam.He transferred more than 10,000 Yuan to the criminal behind the scam through the Agricultural bank in Xinxiang where he was found.It's understood that the money was Mr Xiong's savings which he had brought from hometown Zhoukou to Xinxiang a month ago in order to start a small business.He contacted the police and the bank as soon as he realised he had been conned.But this morning he went back to the bank and committed suicide after he was allegedly unable to cope with his loss.Mr Xiong hanged himself right outside the front doors of the bank,by the time the police had turned up to remove his body a crowd had gathered around him.One of the pictures taken at the scene show a person kneeling down in front of Mr Xiong,but it has not been reported whether or not this person is a friend or relative.Police soon removed his body from the front of the bank and are investigating the incident.One month photo below.
